In our previous article entitled ‘will the PS3 slim save Sony?’, we looked at the problems being faced by Sony’s computer entertainment division due to their expensive and loss-making PlayStation 3 games console. In this second and final part we look at Sony’s recently announced solution.
The GamesCom event that took place in mid August in Germany saw the Japanese giant finally reveal its future plans. A new streamlined slimmer PS3 was to be released with the same features as the original but sporting a much larger 120GB hard drive than the current standard 80GB unit. Despite the slimmer design and increased specification it was also announced that this new slim PS3 would be $50 USD cheaper than the outgoing original. This new console would be released for sale on 1 September 2009, just a couple of weeks after the announcement and something which took industry experts by surprise. Sony even delivered free PS3 units to the offices of various technology websites which meant real-life reviews and pictures of the new slim version were online less than a day after the announcement at GamesCom.
In my opinion, Sony have surely done enough to turn around the fortunes of its gaming division. They have appeased both the games developers and consumers with a cheaper console, whilst simultaneously boosting demand due to the slimmer design. To add to this is the hype and hence the ‘must have’ sentiments that are aroused when a new product is released that will serve to temporarily boost demand even more. Perhaps the most important factor surrounding the introduction of the slim PS3 is that Sony would have been able to re-engineer the console for a much lower production cost which, even taking into account the $50 retail price reduction, should leave them finally making a profit from the console that was now introduced nearly three years ago.
Industry reaction also seems to be almost universally positive, with the only criticisms being about the slightly unadventurous design of the PS3 slim, especially after the quite adventurous design of the original. Only time will tell if Sony have done enough but it looks as though the PS3 has got quite a positive future to look forward to.

Say you’re up late at night at a friend’s apartment playing Grand Theft Auto and you’re feeling a little wacky. What better time to throw in a few cheat codes to up the wack factor? Turn the pedestrians against you and watch the bullets fly from every behind every parked car! The cheats for that game are especially cool, but almost every video game known to man has cheat codes installed in it. From back in the dawn of the gaming industry, in fact, developers imbedded cheat codes into games for their own use-they made testing the games faster-and just never removed them.
Computer geeks being what they are, they latched onto the codes, and in ,addition, learned how to use what were called “POKES” to modify certain memory addresses. The fun was just beginning. When developers learned that gamers expected the imbedded games Cheat and unlockables, they began regularly imbedding them in every game.
These days, you can change all sorts of game aspects using cheats. The ever-popular giant head feature, for example, is just one of many changes you can create, although unless you are just really punchy it’s hard to imagine why anyone would get a big kick out of that particular one. Shape shifting is a cool cheat in some games, though, and so is invisibility or the ability to fly. You can also put in a “No clip” code and put the game into an ethereal sort of mode where you can float through solid objects.
Power hungry players have a field day with cheats. You can play in God Mode, which means you are pretty much invulnerable to anything and cannot be killed. You can also add to your cache of weapons, money, or other useful possessions; you can become gigantic; or you could use a code to achieve infinite resources like ammunition.
So really, with cheat codes, you can play a game over and over and make it interesting every time. Even games you have beaten can still be amusing. And no matter what hard core, die hard, live-in-their-parents’ basement gamers may tell you, there is nothing wrong in cheat codes.

If you are repeatedly getting Xbox 360 disc read error, you will need to rectify the problem before you can play game on your favorite console. You need not replace your disc drive and instead does some sort of fixing the Xbox 360 disc read error.
Whenever you insert a disc in your DVD drive, you get a message, “please insert an Xbox 360 game disc” and this might take away your interest from the xbox 360 gaming console. You need not worry too much as this problem can easily be rectified by yourself.
The main disadvantage of Xbox 360 console is that it is compact and therefore it gets overheated easily and quickly. The problem of Xbox 360 disc read error is caused by overheating and some of the connectors get burnt by overheating and therefore for proper functioning of the console, you need to replace such connectors.
Although many people prefer to send the gaming console to Microsoft for repair and I personally feel that this is not the right solution for fixing Xbox 360 disc read error. You will have to ship the console to Microsoft and during transit some additional problem to your console might also occur. Further you will have to send $140 to Microsoft as repair fee and will have to bear the shipping expenses also. The main disadvantage of sending your console to Microsoft is that if the same problem reoccurs, you will have to send the console again and have to wait for a month to get back your Xbox 360.
So, instead of sending your gaming console for fixing Xbox 360 disc read error, you have another option to do the job yourself.

The Sony PS3 is creating headlines in the techie world. And, watchers all over the world are reviewing the much awaited product. It is all set to storm the gaming world The CNET Editor has awarded the PS3 8.8 out of 10 with 9/10 for design; 9/10 for features; and 8/10 for performance.
There are two versions of the PS3 and the 20GB version retails for USD 500 while the 60GB version for USD 600. According to gaming gurus it is too early to say what the PS3 will achieve, the sane advice is to wait a year before passing any judgments.
The hardware is state-of-art and impressive. The PS3 has:
• A cell processor that is very advanced and is all set to support GenX computer entertainment. And instead of using off the shelf Pc components the PS3’s 3.2 GHz Cell processor was built from scratch just for the PS3. A joint effort between IBM, Sony, and Toshiba the processor has a core with seven synergistic processing units. The power extended by the cell will provide spectacular realism to the games and realistic effects.
• Dolby sound of 5.1 ch with DTS and LPCM.
• Giga-bit Ethernet with a pre-installed hard disk drive. This will enable downloading of content from the World Wide Web and play online with competitors all over the world.
• Output and input ports support displays from NTSC, PAL, and HD relays.
• A noise level matches that of PS2 and is incredible.
• A cell processor that can play from a blue ray disc at bit rate of 48Mbps.
• Controllers that are high precision, with sensitive six-axis motion, and technologically perfect sensing. The controllers are wireless and as many as seven controllers can be connected to the PS3 via the blue tooth. What more the controllers have a range of 65 feet. The controllers can be recharged easily by connecting the USB cable. The player can continue to play while the controller recharges. The L2 and R2 buttons are larger giving greater game control. The increase in tilt of the analog joy sticks allow for greater control and wider range of motion. The most welcome feature is the six axis motion.
• An interface that is user friendly and aesthetic. However, certain features are hidden below several levels.
• A digital media hub with a blu-ray player. The 60GB PS3 can read digital photos from USB devices, digital cameras, CDS and more. The system has an impressive internal media reader, photo and album viewer, and the Wii. The hub supports an astounding variety of music files including MP3s. ATRAC, AAC, and WAV. What more the PS3 will play Blu-ray disc with high definition and clarity.
As far as first reviews go the PS3 is all set to be the greatest gaming and media entertainment console. It will take home entertainment to the next level of excitement and challenges.

Do you’ve got the Xbox 360 error E 74? Are you wondering how you can fix this problem? Can you even fix this problem? If you want to repair your console from the E74 error, you can do 2 things.
1. Send your console over to Microsoft, pay $150 or use your warranty.
2. Fix the Xbox 360 Error E 74 by yourself with the use of a repair guide.
Fix My Xbox 360 Error E 74 By Microsoft?
This option sounds very logical right? Microsoft has caused the E74 problem on your console, so they’ll fix it also. This is partly true, but Microsoft is a business, and a business needs to make money. So what did they came up with? If you got your warranty, the repair is free, if your warranty has been expired, it will cost you $150.
Also, there are waiting times attached to this. You will have to wait for 2-6 weeks, before you can get back playing on your Xbox 360. Another thing to keep in mind is that it’s high likely that the problem will come back.
Fix My Xbox 360 Error E 74 By Myself?
This is the most fastest and cheapest option that you’ve got. And it you want to have an easy option also, get yourself a repair guide. It’s highly recommended that if you want to fix the Xbox 360 Error E 74 by yourself, to use a repair guide. It gives step by step information that’s coming along with very detailed photo’s.
When you do the repair by yourself, you won’t have to pay $150. The only thing you need to spend money on is a repair guide. That’s only $14. See the difference? Also, you won’t have to wait for weeks. In fact, it’s high likely that you’ll be done within 1 day. Don’t believe me?
