I’ve been having a problem where my PS3 locks up whenever it is playing a PS3 game. Sony troubleshooting said it may help to restore the factory settings. If I go that route, will it delete everything off the hard drive? Or will it just change the settings back (in which case it doesn’t sound like it will help)?

If you claim your PS3 on the internet does the counter go down and they reserve a PS3 for you or is when they receive your documents and approve?! Please help!
Thanks but on the site it says ‘…and your claim is one of the first 35,000 received and validated by Sony.’

Since the release of the Xbox 360 there is no such thing as a budget title. Every developer studio forks out thousands of dollars for just one gaming project. Which now makes video games a more acceptable source of entertainment along with movies and television. Not only has it given consumers something more to spend their money on but it also has given jobs to many computer/technology savvy youth. There is now more demand for jobs like game programming, developing, art design and game testing.

It may be hard for some to conceive why video games are such a multi-million dollar industry and how they rack up budgets sometimes more than movies. No longer are the days of one man made video games, unless you count the small mini-games on Popcap. The creation of a game is very complicated and requires many professions for a product to sell over a million copies. Game studios have to hire sound effects professionals in order to constitute realistic sound management. They have to hire testers that sit and play the games for hours looking for bugs or bad coding. Some studios go to such length as to hiring real actors to speak character’s voice parts just like in an animated movie. Not only that but on top of the game being made the publisher also hires publicist, managers, and advertisement firms in order for their “product” to get enough sales to constitute their hard work. But specifically there are a few games that stand out as the biggest budget games on the Xbox 360.

Halo is becoming a name almost as recognizable as the name Mario. The game holds a legacy for the best multi-player game since Goldeneye. The newest installment of the franchise delivers on every aspect that Halo fans wanted from the new game. It also sold millions of copies in its first week at 60.00 dollars each, because of its seemingly endless features and catering to its fans.

Gears of War maybe didn’t revolutionize any game play mechanics but it definitely revolutionized the way we see games today. The game was presented in the most realistic graphics that we have yet ever seen. Bringing the Unreal engine (the system the game was made with) to new heights and setting the game development bar very high.

Besides game budgets based around graphics and game features another big game came out spending thousands on its production values. Mass Effect is an RPG that allows any player to feel an interpersonal connections to the characters. The game allows you to talk and behave in whatever way you want, with every character being voice acted along the way. Truly worth the money in most gamers eyes.

By emulators I mean applications that would allow the ACTUAL game CDs from older game systems such as Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, & Turbo Graphx CD (including Super CD) to play perfectly (or at least as good as possible) on PS3 (yep some of us still DO have our collections for these systems).

My friend and I both have Guitar hero 2, I have it for PS2 and he has it for Xbox 360. Is there anyway to convert my controller to the Xbox 360? I looked online on ebay and found a PS2 to USB converter, and since the nonwireless form of a xbox 360 controller is a USB port would that work? If not, are there any other ways for me to convert so we can both play on his Xbox 360? Thank you for reading and any input would be greatly appreciated.

After all that hullabaloo about the pricing schemes for Sony’s PS3 games, Sega announced that it will release two PS3 titles come November. Scott Steinberg, marketing executive for Sony, made the announcement earlier this week. According to him, the two PS3 games will be “Full Auto 2: Battlelines” and popular “Sonic the Hedgehog”.

A sequel to the best-selling “Full Auto, Full Auto 2: Battlelines” features the next-gen quality high speed combat racing among PS3 games. The game features the once-pleasant districts of Staunton City as battle zones, rife with automotive destruction. Using explosive weapons, high-speed vehicles, and skillful technologically-groundbreaking demolition tactics, players must defeat their opponents and claim the city as their own. The game has six unique multiplayer game modes: gauntlet, base assault, and team deathmatch. Players can engage in intense online multiplayer for up to eight players or fight and race against a friend in two-player split-screen mode. There are six districts of Staunton City waiting to be conquered. With their own choice of weapons and battle-ready cars, players can enjoy hours of fresh gameplay in this story-based career mode. There are over 25 cars to choose from which players can customize by adding over 20 explosive devices and weapons.

Sonic, the blue blur is making a comeback via a new PS3 game. Sonic’s newest adventure focuses on a mysterious new world ruled over by a beautiful princess. For ages, the kingdom has secured a mysterious gem that is encased in a necklace that hangs around the princess’s neck. Unfortunately, the gem turns out to be the powerful Chaos Emerald. Dr. Eggman, hearing of its existence, soon attacks the kingdom in hopes of using the gem’s power for himself. Sonic finds out about his enemy’s plan and sets out to save the princess and her kingdom. The game makes heavy use of the Havok physics engine like all PS3 games making enemies to errant debris fly about in a pretty realistic way. In this game, the blur gets an ally in person named Silver. He is a fast runner like Sonic but more adept in throwing things and weapons to our blue-furred hero.

These two PS3 games will be released together with Sony’s PS3 which make for an interesting feed to the rumor mill. Is Sony trying to lure in fanatics to buy Blu-ray formatted games by releasing the two most popular games of all time? Rumors escalate as these two games will be released exclusively for Sony and the PS3 for a period of time. After the limited period both games will also be published for Xbox 360. Curiously, this limited period ends some time after the release Sony’s PS3 in the stores. Analysts figure that this is a tactic by Sony to encourage Full Auto and Sonic fans to buy a Sony console.

Aside from the two popular PS3 games, Steinberg also announced the release of a new PS3 game come March 2007. Part of the Virtua Fighter series, the fifth installment of the game will also be initially available for PS3 console use. Sony is obviously banking on a tactic other than Blu-ray. But will the latest PS3 games be enough to save Sony from predicted disaster? Whether this tactic will work, only the gamers can tell.

The all new Sony PlayStation 3 Slim games console will be tempting gamers this fall, so let’s take a close look at the Sony PS3 Slim gaming console.

Firstly, the most important thing to many gamers is the price, so Sony has cut the price to $299 as of the 1st week of September when it will be released and available to a worldwide audience.

Cosmetically, gamers will notice that it has a more textured finish which Sony thinks it gives it a more casual look. The PS3 logo branding design has changed to a shiny piano black finish. The brand name has also been modified to ‘PlayStation 3′ compared to an earlier branding of ‘PLAYSTATION 3′. What’s the difference? Answer: CAPS LOCK hasn’t been deactivated.

The PS3 Slim now has physical push buttons as opposed to touch sensitive buttons which used to be on the previous unit.

It has a 120 GB hard drive which is located at the front of the unit which makes it easier to access and therefore easier for interchanging when wanting to upgrade. The hard drive is user upgradeable, and if the hard drive was to be upgraded the warranty would not be void giving greater flexibility to hard core gamers who like to customize their consoles.

WiFi, which is built into the system, is also located at the front as well as 2 USB ports. The PS3 Slim also boasts a Blu-ray drive which is also positioned at the front of the unit above the hard drive. The Blu-ray drive can be used for movies and gaming.

On the back side of the unit, the same connections exist as on the previous model such as: an ethernet port, an HDMI video port, digital audio output port and Sony’s AV cable connector for component or composite video output. Also on the back side, the power cable does not have a corresponding on/off power switch.

Comparing to the previous PS3 the new PS3 Slim is: 32% thinner, 36% lighter, and consumes 34% less power than its predecessor. Out of the box, the all new PS3 Slim is designed to be used laying flat but Sony will offer an additional stand for $24 if you want to prop it up vertically.

There is still no IR receiver port which allows the use of universal remotes, it does not have backwards compatibility so PS2 games cannot be played on the new PS3 Slim, Sony has also removed the ability to install another operating system such as Linux.

At the end of the day, we would not advise you to waste your time playing games. Firstly, it’s a waste of money.
Secondly, sitting on your backside all day long getting lost in fantasy and a dream like world is not only a waste of time but it is also bad for your health.

Why not go swimming or play a contact sport to your get your body working hard and therefore making you more fit and healthy?
