i would totally buy it. it would match my wii and 360. when it’s black, it just looks like a big black blob with littlee white smears all over it (fingerprints.
but its been out in japan for more than a year now… i’m doubting they are coming out with one here at all. no announcements or anything. lol by the time they do announce it (if they do) microsoft would have already dumped the 360 and came out with the 720.

The Sony Ericsson Aino is a mobile designed entirely around multimedia. The key feature of this new Sony mobile is that you can stream content directly from anywhere to the Aino through the internet. This is a slider phone packed with many attractive features.

When it comes to design, the Aino is slim and sleek. It looks compact and small when closed but once you slide open the phone, it becomes really long. When closed, the Aino looks like any other touch phone but on sliding open, you see an array of keys, familiar to Sony Ericsson users. This is because the touch screen feature works only in the media mode.

The phone has its fast port on the left side whereas the keys which aid in adjusting volume levels and zoom are on the right side. At the bottom, there is a microphone pin hole and loudspeaker. At the back is the camera and LED flash.

The display is attractive with a 3- inch screen and 16 mln color support. The UI looks attractive and if you are in the media mode, you can enjoy all the touch screen aspects like focusing on an icon by pointing at it, being able to drag and drop items through touch and so on. As a matter of fact, the media menu works only through touch.

The Aino is compatible with Play Station 3 so you can use it to control your PS3 or browse its contents. You can also stream content from your PS3 to your Aino. However, streaming content is not limited to the PS3. The Aino’s MediaGo technology allows usera to access their PCs through WiFi. This way, you can synchronize and stream content from your PC to your Aino and vice versa.

The Aino’s MP3 is really good. It is easy to navigate and the screen has great graphical displays. As for sound, it is of unsurpassed quality. Unfortunately, you cannot use your own headset on the Aino because there is no 3.5 mm jack. You will have to use the ear buds supplied along with the mobile. The Sony Ericsson Aino’s FM radio interface is touch optimized and really good.

The phone comes equipped with a number of software applications from Facebook, YouTube and Google. There is no app store though.

The video and camera feature is also touch optimized. The Aino sports an 8 mega pixel camera with LED flash, face detection, smile detection, auto focus and so on. Video streaming is also possible.

When it comes to connectivity, the Aino is really on the forefront. It supports both WiFi and DLNA. GPS and navigation software is also present, not to mention Bluetooth, GSM connectivity and USB 2.0. The Sony Ericsson Aino uses Wayfinder navigator but you can use Google Maps 3.0 as well.

The Aino uses NetFront 3.5 browser to give users a hassle free internet experience. It comes with features like Flash support, bookmarks, downloads, favorites and so on.

In conclusion, the Sony Ericsson Aino combines the best of the touch screen and normal slider phones to give users a remarkable experience.

I know that the most recent models do not support ps2 games….I have read that sony said the ps3 simply does not have the power to emulate the ps2 cpu and the ps3’s gpu and still give the user a great gaming experience. Does this mean that my 60gig will be inferior to the current 80gig in terms of gameplay experience?

Size and weight

As you would expect, the PS3 slim is a fair bit smaller and lighter than its bigger brother. The PS3 slim measures 290×65x290mm (width x height x length) and weighs in at just 3.2kg. This makes it around 32% smaller and 36% lighter than the previous model.

Power consumption

In today’s environmentally conscious society saving energy is more important than ever. Powerfull HD games consoles have been know to take a lot of power and create a lot of heat. Hot noisy fans are a testament to this fact. It is good news then that the new PS3 slim draws a maximum of just 250 watts of energy. This compares well with the previous model that drew a whopping 380 watts!

Faster cell processor

The PS3 slim has an entirely new processor. The new cell processor jointly developed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba, is said to be both faster, cooler and less power hungry than the previous PS3 CPU. This was confirmed by IBM, so it is more than just hearsay. For the end user this will obviously mean a cooler, less noisy machine, but they may even see some better frame rates in the most intensive games.

Sony Bravia integration

In an attempt to get more people to buy their Plasma / LCD televisions, Sony have given people a small but very cool incentive to buy from their Bravia range of televisions. All new Playstations now include Bravia Sync, this technology integrates the PS3 with Sony Bravia televisions. The extra functionality will allow PS3 slim owners to access the Playstation XMB (XrossMediaBar) with their Bravia TV remote and it will also allow them to put the PS3 and the TV into standby with a single button press on the TV remote.

Increased storage

Disk based storage is cheaper than ever before, so it is no surprise that Sony have upped the disk capacity on the PS3 slim. This could prove very useful given Sony’s vision of a download based future for games.

PS3 Vertical stand

New for the PS3 slim is a vertical stand that will allow you to mount the machine in a vertical position. This stand will be available for purchase separately, but it is expected to be quite cheap.

Price Cut

The PS3 price cut was a long time coming and it was a surprise for most people when they slashed the PS3 price along with the launch of the new model. At £249.99, the PS3 slim is £50 cheaper in the UK than it was previously. It’s still slightly more expensive than an Xbox Elite, but it does have a built in Blu-ray drive, onboard WiFi and more storage capacity than the Elite. So the PS3 slim does represent very good value for money.

In the techie world the race for supremacy just got hotter with Sony computer Entertainment President Phil Harrison stating, “The Playstation 3 is a computer. We do not need a PC.” And, the news is that the PS3 has reached for new horizons it is not just a game console. Although many tech gurus are rooting for the Xbox360 here are a few reasons why the PS3 may gain an edge.

According to analyst Shawn Milne, even though Xbox360 will get a head start, the PS3 will outsell the Xbox every year after 2006. Bu 2010 the PS3 will according to predictions have sold 23.3 million copies in the US.

1. The PS3 can be used to see movies, play music, and surf the web.

2. The GPU is powerful and fast. The downside is that it is bound to be hard to program.

3. The memory is 256 MB XRD for the cell and 256 MB DDR3 for the GPU.

4. The PS3 has a dual Ethernet, built in wi-fi, Bluetooth, flash memory slots, and blue ray.

5. The PS3 has hardware that is more powerful than that of the Xbox 360 and will be able to produce real to life visuals.

6. The games in PS3 will be stored on Bluray discs which store 54 gigs while game space in the Xbox360 is just 9 gigs.

7. The PS3 will have international appeal and be popular with both foreign game developers and consumers. According to market whispers games on the PS3 are all set to be exciting and different.

8. The PS3 has immense expandability and connectivity options. The compact flash, SD card, memory stick, Bluetooth, USB you name it and the PS3 will say yes please. Designed to accommodate just about everything in the universe.

9. Visionary the PS3 aims for dual screen and 1080p support. The display technology is an eon ahead of any gizmo man has even dreamed of. Imagery will be synonymous with PS3. Imagine playing games like formula 1 racing and Killzone in panoramic splendor.

10. The HD IP camera peripheral or the EyeToy 2 will transmit crystal clear images over the internet as well as feeds over the Intraweb.

What is more the PS3 is designed to be backwards compatible and so you will be able to play games old and new. The PS3 will allow playing of games on the PS1 and PS2 libraries so, even with the latest console you can boot up old favorites like Tobal or Shattered Soldier are relive old times. According to CBSNews.com Tech Analyst, Larry Magid, “The graphics processor in the new Sony PlayStation is pretty impressive. It rendered images during the game that looked almost as if they came from a movie studio.”

PS3 is all set to make dreams reality. Imagine Metal Gear, Warhawk, Tekken, i-8, Gran Turismo, Killzone, and Dante among zillion other mind blowing games all coming alive! Whatever the whispers are about the reality will surface when the PS3 is launched and consumers get first hand experience.

This generation of Videogames steps into unchartered pleasures we did not anticipate would be produced so soon. Reading a round-up of E3 news on various gaming sites the golden chalice for innovation has to go to Microsoft for Xbox 360’s project Natal. Sony PlayStation 3 created something for youngsters – the Eyepet. Nintendo claimed to be the masters’ of motion controllers some 5 years ahead in terms of their experience in developing non conventional controllers.

First, off let me say a little about Xbox 360’s Natal. Microsoft revealed a hands free controller project called Natal. Natal works on true 1:1 motion control interaction with graphical and speech recognition. The hardware recognises the shape of a player, their movements and even their hand commands.

Moving over to Playstation PS3’s press conference arena all the eyes were on one thing. A new magical toy for Sony PS3 called “EyeToy”. The magic toy thing combines a virtual world with cute pets with the real world. A television will display what the PlayStation Eye camera sees combined with your Eyepet to give an overall virtual effect. Eyepet will recognise and respond to your body movements, so you can feed and play with your monkey. Yes monkey, most of us have cats or dogs, and now with PS3 you can own a pet monkey.

PlayStation Eye is the second generation of PS3 games using motion sensor. The EyeToy, first used in a type of playing card battle game give an impression of how games can interface with cameras and motion. An impressive magic card creates a 3D hologram when placed on the floor in front of the EyeToy opening up other games to play with your Eyepet. Sony hasn’t given up on handheld gaming just yet either. Sony plan to launch a new Playstation Portable console called PSP Go which will replace the PSP 3000 series.

PlayStation also unveiled twin handed motion sensor.  It’s good that they are getting gamers of the couch, providing the games are worth getting off the couch for. Sony PS3’s Eye-Toy motion controller concept was not a dissimilar idea to Natal. PS3’s future 1:1 gameplay mapping was demonstrated by someone holding virtual world objects in their own hand, yes the graphics looked awesome. A baseball bat suddenly appeared right there in his hand at the proper angle to use corresponding to his body. The tracking was very fast. It uses the EyeToy. WOW. True 3D pointing. You really need to see it to get the idea of new motion controller for PlayStation 3. This takes gaming to a new level. The game world and your front room are one of the places. Both Natal and PS3s concept use overlays and projectors bridging the gap between real and virtual world.

Various rumours gained increasing momentum during the build up to the E3 technology show in early June. Perhaps the most persistent rumour was that of a PlayStation 3 price cut and a new PSP handheld gaming device. The PS3 price reduction didn’t happen, although the new PSP did. We the take a look at Sony’s major E3 announcements.

Perhaps the biggest announcement was the first one. Sony unveiled a new PSP handheld console called the PSP Go. The main feature of the device is a moveable screen which slides open to revel the controls which appear to be much improved from the previous generation PSP with a more PS3 like layout including the introduction of an analogue stick. This new sliding screen allows the device to be a claimed 50% smaller and around 40% lighter than the original PSP. In what could be considered an admission of defeat, the UMD (Universal Media Disc) drive has been discontinued, a move which will surely see the disappearance of this little-loved proprietary format. In its place is a memory stick card slot (using the M2 format) along with 16GB of internal memory. Built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication technologies also feature. The PSP Go will hit the shops in October 2009 for $249.99.

The second big announcement from Sony was a motion controller for the PS3 games console. The control system works in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye motion-sensing webcam which tracks the motion of the player around the room. The demo showed the player replicated on the screen, usually with some sort of weapon being held in their hand such as a light sabre or a sword. The technology is clearly a play on Nintendo’s Wii motion control system and looks to take the original Wii controller a stage further by using full body movement. It is interesting to note that Microsoft also launched a similar system at E3, although it has to be said that the Sony system looked a lot closer to making production than the Microsoft system.

These represented the two major announcements at the show. Other news surrounded new and upcoming games. Some notable highlights were a live demo run of Uncharted 2, a live demo of the war game M.A.G showing a staggering 256 live network players playing in real time through the internet. Some new games were also announced including a PS3 exclusive by Rockstar (developers of GTA4) called Agent and based in the 1970’s. A new game from the Metal Gear Solid stable called Peace Walker was also announced, along with a little trailer to accompany it. The game is due in 2010.

That concludes our brief look at Sony’s E3 2009 announcement.

Electronic giant Sony after anticipation released the Playstation 3 in Japan on November 11. It is to be mentioned that the Playstation 2, the previous edition of Playstation 3 was the bestselling machine. It is a different story that the Playstation3 is equipped by a stupendously powerful chip, the “Cell processor.” Coming at the price of whopping $500 or $600 bucks, very much depending on which version an user buy, plus $60 for each game. Fans of the Sony Playstations are making beeline to buy the gadgets.

It has been seen people are really excited about its Resistance: Fall of Man, which is a truly fun set in an alternative edition of the 1950s. In the game aliens invade earth; the excited part of the game is that your job is to put bullets in them. While the game is on, players of the game will see some gloriously detailed, beautifully gloomy factories and labs and shattered cityscapes. Not to mention the audio is gorgeous, the weapons real and lethal. The levels are huge and complex.

There is lot of many games in the gadget. At this time prices of the games are much higher, and people residing in many parts of the world can’t afford to have this hot potato. Give it time. Yes, give it time. Unless the prices of the Sony playstation come down. According to the business cycle, which obviously applies to each and every business entities – the price will probably come down. Market pundits are apprehensive of the fact that the Sony will come out with more, and more advanced gaming features.

It is worth to mention that the initial systems of Sony Playstations were obtained by hot-shot businessmen who paid mainly Chinese nationals to buy the playstations without any software to resell on eBay. According to Media Create, its opening show 81,639 PS3 systems were sold within twenty four hours of its introduction in Japan.
